Brilliant Bale leaves Neymar & Messi in the shade

Gareth Bale claimed the headlines with a brilliant late winner as Real Madrid clinched the Copa del Rey after beating Barcelona 2-1.

The Welshman struck in the 85th minute, showing stunning pace to surge past Marc Bartra before poking past Pinto to seal a dramatic win.

There was more drama to come with Neymar passing up a chance to equalize, hitting the post moments later, on a night when the Welshman lefts his rivals in the shade.

Ronaldo fires Real Madrid past Osasuna

Fresh from winning the Ballon d'Or, Cristiano Ronaldo was back in action as Real Madrid took on Osasuna in the Copa del Rey.

Carlo Ancelotti's men held a 2-0 lead from the first leg and quickly added to that tally with Ronaldo opening the scoring after just 20 minutes.

The Portuguese unleashed a free kick which flew straight at goalkeeper Andres Fernandez with the shot-stopper trying to punch the ball clear and succeeding only in forcing the ball onto the ground, between his legs and into the back of the net.

Mourinho & Ronaldo sent packing as Atletico win Copa del Rey

A thrilling Copa del Rey final saw Atletico Madrid come from behind to beat their city rivals Real 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

Los Rojiblancos had famously failed to beat Real since 1999 but an extra-time header from Miranda ended their miserable run and ensured their 10th Copa crown.

It was a miserable evening for Jose Mourinho’s men who looked on course for yet another victory after Cristiano Ronaldo had put them ahead after just 14 minutes.

However, Diego Costa levelled the tie after the break, after some great play by Radamel Falcao, before Miranda’s late heroics.

There was further misery too for Real as they hit the woodwork three times and saw Mourinho sent from the dugout before Ronaldo was controversially sent off late on.

Thanks for the memories...

Pep Guardiola ended speculation over his Barcelona future on Friday by confirming his departure from Camp Nou at the end of the season.

During his four-year spell in charge, the Blaugrana were ruthless, sweeping team after team aside en route to three consecutive Primera Division titles and two Champions League triumphs, among a host of other trophies.

With his place in the club's history assured, however, Guardiola decided it was time for a break...

Inside the mind of the Special One

Barcelona got one over Real Madrid once more in the Copa del Rey in midweek, much to Jose Mourinho's frustration.

Refereeing decisions were again a point of contention for the Portuguese coach, whilst his spokesman Eladio Parames took his anger out on 'Donkey' Dani Alves....

Sergio Ramos sees red for Real again

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has been making the headlines lately, but for all the wrong reasons it seems. Following on from accusations of a bust-up with coach Jose Mourinho in the aftermath of the defeat to Barcelona in last week's Copa del Rey last-eight clash, he became a new record holder on Wednesday night - his dismissal for a raised arm on Sergio Busquets was his 13th red card for Los Blancos, beating one-time Madrid stalwart Fernando Hierro's previous high of 12. Unwanted or not, it's still a prize fit for a bull, right?

Pepe's madness hits Mourinho where it hurts

Pepe was the villain for Jose Mourinho as his play-acting and perseverance in his attempts to injure Lionel Messi only hampered Real Madrid's chances of retaining the Copa del Rey, as they went down 2-1 to Barcelona in the quarter-final first leg.
