Tufan tidying his hair instead of stoping Modric

Ozan Tufan and Modric cartoon
Luka Modric's superb volley was enough for Croatia to beat Turkey, though Ozan Tufan might feel he could have done more to stop it as replays showed him tidying his hair instead of closing the Real Madrid man down...

Madrid & Mourinho gobble up Galatasaray

Real Madrid enjoyed a Champions League feast against Galatasaray at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

The visitors were made to look like turkeys as Jose Mourinho's side raced into the lead early on through Cristiano Ronaldo's goal, before the victory was rubber-stamped by Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.

The Turkish side have been left with plenty to do at home, needing to score at least four goals to secure one of the competition's biggest ever upsets.

Manchester City the Christmas turkeys

After Manchester United opened up an seven point gap at the top of the league on Boxing Day over rivals Manchester City, manager Sir Alex Ferguson looks as if he's having the last festive laugh of the year.

With the reigning champions slumping to a 1-0 defeat away at Sunderland for the second season running courtesy of a Joe Hart howler, both Roberto Mancini and Carlos Tevez will be hopping mad at both the disappointing result and lacklustre performance.

Having been pipped to the league title last season, though, Ferguson, or Santa Claus in this case, will be wary of counting his turkey's before they come home to roost in their pursuit of the league crown this term. For fans of fowl gags, Christmas has come early.

Sahin desperate to catch Mourinho's eye

Nuri Sahin played 90 minutes for Turkey in midweek and despite a lack of match sharpness, he still showed some good passing range, leading his national team coach Abdullah Avci to voice his confidence that the midfielder will still be a success with Real Madrid. However, after nine months and only a handful of appearances to his name under Jose Mourinho, the 23-year-old must be wondering what he must do to get a start in the Spanish capital.
