Van Persie serves up Moyes' first slice of trophy pie

Robin van Persie was on target twice against Wigan in the Community Shield on Sunday serve up David Moyes' first trophy as Manchester United manager.

The Scot lead Preston North End to the old Second Division title in 2000, but it has been a long wait since then.

Having not lifted any silverware in the last 13 years, Manchester United fans will be hoping Sunday's triumph has given their new manager a taste for glory.

After being unable to determine whether the animal is either male or female, the AC Milan striker has opted to play it safe and name his pet 'Super'. 

Birthday bunny Zanetti just keeps going

Inter legend Javier Zanetti turned 40 on Saturday, and despite suffering an Achiles injury in April that will keep him out of action for more than six months, he shows no signs of stopping.

The former Argentina right-back signed a new one-year contract in June and looks set to rampage down the wing even when others falter. Happy Birthday, Javier!

Big-money move Pharoah-way for Draxler


Schalke starlet Julian Draxler has revealed that he had sleepless nights while on holiday in Egypt as he was mulling over massive moves to Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old eventually elected to stay with the Bundesliga outfit, but was clearly tempted by the opportunity to play for some of the world's richest clubs.
