Van Gaal spending spree threatens Manchester United identity
Manchester United’s identity has been “broken” by the club’s recent spending spree, according to former coach Mike Phelan.
Manager Louis van Gaal has enjoyed a busy summer bringing in six new faces including deadline day deals for Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind.
The departure of youth product Danny Welbeck to Arsenal has also disappointed some fans as United bid to return to the Premier League top four.

Van Gaal leads frantic Man Utd recruitment drive
With just a week left until the transfer window closes, Manchester United face a race against time to bolster a squad that has picked up just a single point from their opening two Premier League matches - their worst start in 22 years.
The Red Devils are already closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria, who could cost as much as £70 million, while Dutch duo Nigel De Jong and Daley Blind, of AC Milan and Ajax respectively, could be reunited with their old Netherlands boss.
Van Gaal admitted his appreciation for the Argentine, as well as Juventus's midfield dynamo Arturo Vidal, and there looks set to be a lot of activity at Old Trafford in the coming seven days as United look to bolster a squad that has struggled in the early stages of the new campaign.

Ibrahimovic settles in for goal highlight reel
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored so many extraordinary goals that he is unable to recall all of them.
As a result, the Paris Saint-Germain striker has already made plans for how to spend his retirement years - watching clips of his acrobatic efforts.
"I'm spoiled to have scored so many exceptional goals," he said. "There are a few I will see on the internet when I retire and I'll tell myself they're amazing. I'll ask myself how even I could have achieved such feats.
"In a match, it happens like that. I don't train for these, they are instinctive actions, like my goal against Bastia when I scored with the backheel. I have to try things to have a chance against opponents.
"This is what makes the difference between a small and a large team. Crazy things can come out of nowhere. This is what is good about football, it's completely unpredictable."

Mancini & Balotelli get shirty as Manchester City head for Euro exit
Despite having led Manchester City to success domestically during his three years at the club, Roberto Mancini is yet to find the winning formula on the European stage.
And, after crashing out of last year's Champions League at the group stages, the Premier League champions already look resigned to the same fate following Tuesday's 2-2 home draw with Ajax.
But, after a Sergio Aguero strike was disallowed and a late penalty call denied by the officials, Mancini was more aggrieved by poor refereeing decision than his side's lacklustre display..

Mancini & Mourinho to do battle in Group of Death
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in this season's Champions League "Group of Death" that also contains the champions from Holland and Germany.
City will be cursing their luck, especially after being drawn in the least enviable group in last season's tournament, playing Napoli, Villarreal and eventual runners-up Bayern Munich before finishing third.

Van gaal the mysterious coach
Van Gaal career is so confusing, once he won the champion league with Ajax, and then he failed to qualify Netherlands to the world cup, and he won La Liga with Barca twice, and failed with them in the champions league
and so on ...
and so on ...
