Van Gaal desperately seeking Manchester United balance
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal admits he is still trying to strike the right balance between his horde of creative talents and a more solid back-line.
The Red Devils claimed a last-gasp draw away to West Brom on Monday night, and while the Dutch coach was happy with his side’s performance he was dismayed that they failed to win the game.
But while he is ready to add more physicality and strength to his line-up, he is not going to sacrifice his team’s flair – even with a clash with Chelsea on the horizon.
“We have to look for physical balance and maybe that is our problem,” Van Gaal told reporters. “I am always looking for creative players and in England you need physical players as well, maybe [Marouane] Fellaini brings that.”

Vidal snubs Manchester United
It appears Louis van Gaal will have to look elsewhere in order to bolster his midfield after Arturo Vidal ruled out a switch to Manchester United this summer.
"I don't know if I will stay at Juventus, I'm happy here in Turin," the Chile international told Sky Italy.
"I will talk with Allegri on Monday. I'm not going to Manchester."

Howard’s heroics not enough to save USA
Another sublime goalkeeping display was on show at the World Cup as Tim Howard’s heroics on Tuesday evening nearly helped the USA book a place in the quarter-finals.
The 35-year-old made 15 saves against Belgium - more than any other goalkeeper has made since World Cup records began in 1966.
But despite Howard’s performance, Belgium edged through to the last eight with a 2-1 win in extra time.

Manchester United set for USA pre-season tour
Manchester United have endured a difficult season so far, but they have plenty to look forward to come the summer.
David Moyes's side will travel to the USA for a pre-season tour - their first visit to the country since 2011.
The Old Trafford outfit has confirmed its participation in the International Champions Cup, which will also feature rivals Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan, with the final taking place at Miami's Sun Life Stadium on August 4.
The likes of Moyes, Robin van Persie, Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata will no doubt be hoping to take in some of the USA's historical landmarks.

Suarez 'champing at the bit' to make Liverpool return
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set to return from his 10-match suspension to face Manchester United in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Uruguay international has missed the opening of Liverpool's campaign after he was suspended for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic but Brendan Rodgers insists the striker is "champing at the bit" to return to action.
“You’ll find out that once he gets that strip on, he’ll work his socks off. He’s received nothing but affection and love from the supporters," Rodgers told reporters.
“They deserve no less than 100 per cent and, knowing Luis, that’s what he’ll give them. He’s really champing at the bit to help the team. I am sure once he gets back on the field he will show his top quality.”

Man Utd fans demand answers after woeful transfer window
Deadline day ended in farce for Manchester United as late bids for Ander Herrera, Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao all failed dismally.
The Premier League champions did manage to sign Marouane Fellaini, but in order to complete a late move ended up over-paying for the Belgian international.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil, a player many fans believe would be perfect for Old Trafford joined Arsenal leaving angry supporters of the Red Devils demanding answers from the men in charge of United.

Deadline day dominoes ready to topple
Arsene Wenger puts it as only he can: "It’s a little bit a domino game and maybe something will happen in the last 24 hours." We think it's fair to say something WILL happen on transfer deadline day.
With Gareth Bale having completed his world-record move to Real Madrid from Tottenham, the starter's pistol has truly been fired.
Can Arsenal pick off Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria as Madrid look to recoup some funds? Will Manchester United join the race, or will they focus on Maroaune Fellaini and Ander Herrera? Could Luis Suarez finally get his move to Madrid?
Whatever happens, you can keep up-to-date with the latest rumors and confirmed deals on our LIVE blog and Done Deals section.

Moyes keen to grab Fabregas after failed Thiago pursuit
After spending much of the summer chasing unsettled Barcelona starlet
Thiago only to be trumped by Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola's sudden
charm offensive, Manchester United need a transfer rethink.
A midfield playmaker remains a priority and Cesc Fabregas, Thiago's former team-mate at Camp Nou and another long-term United target, has risen to the top of the wanted list.
Barcelona are currently considering a £25.9 million bid from the Red Devils and, while it is unlikely to be accepted, it surely signals just the start of David Moyes' formal pursuit of the disillusioned Catalan.
There are, however, numerous obstacles to a deal. The Spanish champions are unlikely to simply jettison a player they fought so hard to prise from Arsenal, while the Gunners enjoy first option on any move.
Tito Vilanova revealed on Tuesday that Fabregas is happy at the Camp Nou, leaving United facing another difficult - and possibly fruitless - battle in the transfer market.

Wannabes left out as Player of the Year nominations announced
The PFA Player of the Year award nominees were announced
on Friday with Premier League stars finding out who is in the running
for the honour.
Tottenham forward Gareth Bale heads the list which includes Michael Carrick, Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie.
The winner is due to be announced on April 28, but in the meantime there are reasons to celebrate for the nominated six, although do spare a thought for those who missed out this time.

Liverpool set for summer holidays as top four scrap continues
After Arsenal and Everton both recorded wins on Saturday, the race to finish in the Premier League top four has taken another twist.
Tottenham - who do not play this weekend - have dropped to fifth as the Gunners moved up the table and closed in on Chelsea, who are in FA Cup action against Manchester City on Sunday.
Liverpool, meanwhile, look set for an early summer holiday after another goalless draw, this time against Reading, thanks to some heroic goalkeeping from Alex McCarthy.

Fellaini foils Manchester United
All attention turned to Manchester United last night as Sir Alex Ferguson's side took on Everton in their first game of the new Premier League season.
Instead, the star of the show was Marouane Fellaini, who terrorised the Manchester United defence and scored the decisive goal in a surprise 1-0 victory for David Moyes' men.

The Premier League is back!
It's back! After three months of having to pretend to be interested in other sports, football fans can finally relax and indulge themselves in the return of the Premier League this Saturday.
Last year's campaign was one of the most dramatic in living memory, with Manchester City snatching a maiden title victory in the dying seconds of the season.
Yet, with Robin van Persie joining Manchester United, an overhaul at Arsenal, and Brendan Rodgers seeking to kickstart his Liverpool revolution, there is one heck of a stellar cast list for 2012-13 campaign...

Hodgson takes cautious approach after England's injury pile up
Following the withdrawals of Gareth Barry and Frank Lampard from the England squad through injury, it appears manager Roy Hodgson may take a cautious approach when Belgium come to entertain on Saturday.
With doubts also remaining over the fitness of Scott Parker, rumours that a large order of bubble wrap is heading into Wembley Stadium are currently unfounded.
