Rosell reveals Barca's Neymar battle

Agbonlahor feels One Direction fans’ wrath

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has incurred the wrath of One Direction fans all over the world after tackling Louis Tomlinson during a charity match.

The duo were taking part in a game at Celtic Park organised by Stiliyan Petrov when Agbonlahor clattered into the singer leaving him prone on the turf.

A visible shaken Tomlinson was later pictured being sick on the pitch with his fans taking to Twitter to castigate the Aston Villa frontman.

Klose and Ronaldo become striker masters

Cristiano Ronaldo and Miroslav Klose etched their way into the record books on Friday after netting for their countries once again.

In Belfast, Ronaldo hit his first international hat-trick to surpass Eusebio’s record and become Portugal’s second highest goalscorer as Paulo Bento's men beat Northern Ireland 4-2 in a chaotic match.

The Real Madrid star has now scored 43 times for his country, and is just four goals behind Pauleta who is Portugal’s leading goalscorer.

Meanwhile, over in Munich, Klose’s 33rd minute strike, ensured he became Germany’s joint highest goalscorer.

The forward bagged his 68th international goal, in a 3-0 win over Austria, equalling Gerd Muller’s record.

Race to Rio continues as stars face World Cup qualifiers

The race to qualify for World Cup 2014 continues in earnest this weekend with many top stars in action for their countries.

The world’s most expensive footballer, Gareth Bale, should feature for Wales although Real Madrid’s newest recruit is highly unlikely to make it to Rio.

Another big summer signing Mesut Ozil is in action for Germany, who are closing in on qualification, while Manchester United new-boy Marouane Fellaini will face Scotland with Belgium.

Elsewhere expect to see Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in action as club football takes a back seat this weekend.

Man Utd fans demand answers after woeful transfer window

Deadline day ended in farce for Manchester United as late bids for Ander Herrera, Sami Khedira and Fabio Coentrao all failed dismally.

The Premier League champions did manage to sign Marouane Fellaini, but in order to complete a late move ended up over-paying for the Belgian international.

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil, a player many fans believe would be perfect for Old Trafford joined Arsenal leaving angry supporters of the Red Devils demanding answers from the men in charge of United.

Ozil arrives in eye-popping Arsenal deal

Arsenal proved to be the big winners on transfer deadline day by pulling off the biggest deal by signing Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid.

The Gunners sealed a £40 million deal for the Germany international late on Monday to smash their transfer record and thrill Gunners' fans who had called on manager Arsene Wenger to spend.

Ozil becomes the third most expensive signing in British football history as well as Arsenal’s highest earner in a simply eye-popping deal.

Deadline day dominoes ready to topple

Arsene Wenger puts it as only he can: "It’s a little bit a domino game and maybe something will happen in the last 24 hours." We think it's fair to say something WILL happen on transfer deadline day.

With Gareth Bale having completed his world-record move to Real Madrid from Tottenham, the starter's pistol has truly been fired.

Can Arsenal pick off Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria as Madrid look to recoup some funds? Will Manchester United join the race, or will they focus on Maroaune Fellaini and Ander Herrera? Could Luis Suarez finally get his move to Madrid?

Whatever happens, you can keep up-to-date with the latest rumors and confirmed deals on our LIVE blog and Done Deals section.

Premier League revs up for Demolition Derbies

The Premier League season is only two games old, but two of the top flight's biggest games are already upon us on Sunday.

Off the back of a pair of victories, Liverpool renew their storied rivalry with reigning champions Manchester United, who could be without Wayne Rooney due to a head injury.

The clash at Anfield is sure to be scintillating, but faces competition for game of the day from the north London derby.

A new-look Tottenham, who added Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen to their overhauled squad on Friday, take on an Arsenal side who have been buoyed by three convincing victories in all competitions after an opening day defeat to Aston Villa.

Bayern's sweet revenge in Super Cup

It will never completely erase the memory of that Champions League final in May 2012 where Didier Drogba's penalty crowned a history victory for Chelsea at the Allianz Arena, but Bayern Munich will have taken some pleasure in Friday's Super Cup triumph.

Javi Martinez's extra-time leveller forced the tie into a penalty shootout and it was Romelu Lukaku's soft spot kick which enabled Pep Guardiola's men to gain some revenge over Chelsea.

Wenger set for Champions League scrap

After watching his team ease through their Champions League play-off tie against Fenerbahce, Arsene Wenger will now be reacquainted with the edgier side of Europe's elite competition.

In order to reach the round of 16, Arsenal will have to navigate their way past three tricky opponents in Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Marseille.

Pot luck: Big guns out to avoid Champions League surprise

The draw for the Champions League group stages takes place on Thursday afternoon with Europe's heavyweights set to learn their fate.

All eyes will be on the draw pots come 16.30 BST, with Gianni Infantino and Michel Platini taking to the stage in an attempt to ensure everything runs smoothly.

And there could be a nasty surprise in store for the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are sitting pretty in Pot 1, with Manchester City and Napoli lurking in Pots 3 and 4 respectively.

AC Milan, PSG and Juventus are the stellar names occupying Pot 2, and the English contingent making up Pot 1 will undoubtedly be desperate to avoid reeling in last year's finalists Borussia Dortmund, who sit in Pot 3.

De Laurentiis the ambulance chaser

Calling all ambulance drivers - watch your back, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is on the loose!

The Partenopei chief is demanding a whopping £86 million in compensation after star striker Gonzalo Higuain suffered cuts to his face after diving from a hired boat and landing on submerged rocks.

De Laurentiis was far from pleased with the medical attention received by the Argentina international but, despite potentially having enough spare cash to buy Gareth Bale, he plans to donate the money to charity.

Nothing separates Manchester United & Chelsea

A cagey game in which both sides were happy to settle for a point, Monday night's stalemate at Old Trafford lacked the explosiveness many had predicted.

Perhaps not as unlikely, however, were the comments from Jose Mourinho after the match, who called on Wayne Rooney to clarify his situation at Manchester United.

"If now, he doesn't want to leave, we are out of the thing. We need to know what is happening," said the Chelsea boss.

Bale prepared to join pantheon of Real Madrid greats

Gareth Bale is set to join some of the greatest players in the history of football as his move to Real Madrid draws closer.

Goal understands a world record £86 million fee has been agreed between Tottenham and the Spanish giants, with the Wales star set to complete the transfer in the next 48 hours.

Bale will rub shoulders with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and follows a long list of legends - including Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stefano - in plying his trade at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema the latest to escape Wenger's paws

It's fair to say Arsene Wenger has had a tough time of it in the transfer market this summer. After Gonzalo Higuain got away as Arsenal turned their attentions to Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan himself proved to be off limits!

There appeared to be some light at the end of the tunnel, though, when it emerged that Karim Benzema was next on Wenger's hitlist. But now the Frenchman will not be coming either, it remains to be seen if the Gunners boss has the energy to carry on transfer hunting.

Will.I.Am?! Mourinho sneaks in to gazump Spurs & AVB

Tottenham looked certain to sign Willian from Anzhi this week, as the Brazilian flew to London for a medical in north London.

But Spurs appear to have been trumped at the last moment, when Chelsea and Jose Mourinho swooped in for the forward, capturing him from right under their rivals' noses.

"He’s an extra target [to Rooney]," Mourinho told reporters when asked about the deal. "We have to do a medical.

"I am happy with my squad but every one of us says we are happy. We always want something more and never close the door."

With Gareth Bale looking increasingly likely to join Real Madrid, Tottenham are once again forced to look for an alternative.

Big Sam & West Ham strapped for transfer cash

With just 10 days remaining before the transfer window closes, a number of Premier League clubs are still trying to make big money signings to add quality to their squads for the 2013-14 season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident of making new signings and Goal understands Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria are among his targets.

Manchester United, meanwhile, continue to pursue Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini, while Tottenham's attempt to sign Willian could be thwarted by Chelsea, who have made a late move for the Brazilian and will bid again for Wayne Rooney.

Spare a thought, then, for West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, who wants to make more transfer deadline purchases, but is simply out of funds.

"I've got no more money left," he told reporters on Thursday. "So the squad I've got is the squad I've got."

Champions League dream alive for Arsenal as Suarez deal dies

Arsenal took a giant stride towards the Champions League with a 3-0 victory over Fenerbahce in a qualifying round first leg in Istanbul.

But Luis Suarez will not be joining them at Europe's top table, after Arsene Wenger confirmed that a deal to sign the Liverpool striker was well and truly dead.

"[There is] absolutely no chance," Wenger told reporters in Turkey last night, with the Frenchman turning his attentions elsewhere.

Goal understands Arsenal are preparing bids for Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria, with the Gunners willing to offer £35 million for the France international.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool and Real Madrid winger Steve McManaman told Goal Suarez is too good for Arsenal, but does deserve to play at the very highest level.

Mourinho palms Barca off Luiz move

Barcelona's pursuit of a centre-back has hit the buffers after they were slapped down by the old enemy; Jose Mourinho.
The Chelsea manager has no interest in selling David Luiz to the Catalans, and, as exclusively revealed by Goalthe Blues have priced the Brazilian at £43 million in order to ward off interest.

Mourinho enjoyed many battles with Barca during his time in Spain with Real Madrid, and he will have taken great pleasure from telling them where to go once again.

Wenger finally dips into Arsenal's overflowing kitty

Arsene Wenger looks set to begin what most Arsenal fans hope is a last-minute spending spree.

Having only signed Yaya Sanogo this summer, the Gunners are closing in on their first notable transfer with a club record £17 million move for Bayern Munich midfielder Luis Gustavo expected to be completed in the next few days.

Their pursuit of Luis Suarez looks no closer to a conclusion, but Arsenal fans are hoping the Gustavo deal is a sign of things to come as Wenger continues to sit on a mountain of cash with deadline day looming.

Van Persie serves up Moyes' first slice of trophy pie

Robin van Persie was on target twice against Wigan in the Community Shield on Sunday serve up David Moyes' first trophy as Manchester United manager.

The Scot lead Preston North End to the old Second Division title in 2000, but it has been a long wait since then.

Having not lifted any silverware in the last 13 years, Manchester United fans will be hoping Sunday's triumph has given their new manager a taste for glory.
